KAPEKS ANFO

BOOSTER SENSITIVE EXPLOSIVE

About the Product

KAPEKS ANFO is a booster sensitive explosive prepared by mixing 94% porous prilled ammonium nitrate as oxidizer and 6% fueloil by weight as fuel considering the oxygen balance. Highly porous ammonium nitrate with high fuel oil absorption capacity is used in the production in order to have desired specifications. It has a high heave energy.

Product Features

  • Designed to be used in dry holes in underground and surface mines and construction works as a bulk charging explosive.
  • Resistant to shocks from impact and friction, much more insensitive compared to cap sensitive explosives and hence safer.
  • Due to its free-flowing nature, it provides optimum charge distribution within the blasthole
  • Explosive charging process is simple and fast. Best charging efficiency is obtained especially when it is delivered to blastholes using bulk trucks.
  • Dissolves and loses its characteristics in wet holes. Although some applications using plastic liners have been observed, these applications are not recommended since any tear or puncture in the bags render the explosive ineffective.
  • When stored properly, it has a 1 (one) year long shelf life since the date of manufacture.
  • At the endof its shelf life,it decomposes completely to harmless materials.

Ignition Information

KAPEKS ANFO is initiated withcap sensitive explosives. In order to get optimum blasting performance, the diameter of the cap sensitive explosive should be as close as to the diameter of the blasthole. In order for KAPEKS ANFO to reach its steadyvelocity of detonation, length of the cap sensitive explosive should alsobe sufficient and length of the cartridge should be five times its diameter. In case KAPEKS ANFO is charged to blastholes pneumatically, care should be taken to use anti-static hose. It is not advised to use detonating cord for initiationin small diameter blastholes.
